  1. What is a silk Momme?

A silk momme (often abbreviated as "mm" or simply "m") is a unit of measurement used to describe the weight or thickness of silk fabric. Specifically, it refers to the weight of 100 yards of silk fabric that is 45 inches wide. A higher momme weight indicates a thicker, more substantial fabric. The range of momme weight for silk fabric can vary widely, from around 6 momme (very lightweight and delicate) to 30 or more momme (very heavyweight and substantial). When purchasing silk products, the momme weight is an important factor to consider, as it can impact the durability, texture, and overall quality of the product. While 11-16 momme is considered good enough, 19 momme and above are the ones considered high quality, as it is more durable than other silk types. All of the SYLKYS products have a weight of 22 momme which has almost 20% more silk per square inch than 19 momme does. This denser weave protects the lustre and sheen that silk possess and results in stronger durability. It's estimated that 22 mm pure silk sheets have almost double the life of lower momme weights

 10. What is OEKO-TEX certification?

OEKO-TEX certification is a globally recognised third-party certification system for textiles that evaluates whether the fabrics and finished products meet certain environmental and social responsibility standards. The certification process involves testing textile materials for harmful substances such as pesticides, heavy metals, and chemicals that can be harmful to human health or the environment. The certification also ensures that the textile production process meets certain social and environmental standards, such as fair labor practices, waste reduction, and energy efficiency.

OEKO-TEX certification is designed to provide consumers with a way to identify textiles that are safe for use and have been produced in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. Products that are OEKO-TEX certified have been tested and verified to be free from harmful substances and produced using sustainable and ethical practices.

When you see the OEKO-TEX certification label on a textile product, it provides assurance that the product has been tested for harmful substances and produced in an environmentally and socially responsible manner, which can help you make more informed and responsible purchasing decisions.
